What People Print

You Can Probably Use This

Most people have never had anything printed and assume it is not for them. It usually is, and it usually costs less than they think.

From R25

Prototypes

Hold your product idea before you commit to tooling. Design it Monday, print it Tuesday, change it Wednesday.

From R35

Replacement parts

The knob, the clip, the bracket nobody has stocked since 2011. Send us the broken one or a drawing.

From R15 a letter

Signage and letters

Three-dimensional letters for shopfronts, reception walls and event branding. Any font, any colour, up to 350mm.

From R40

Functional parts

Brackets, jigs, fixtures, housings, enclosures, spacers. In materials that handle heat, weather and load.

From R25 a unit

Short production runs

Tens, not thousands. The quantity injection moulding will not look at, with no tooling cost.

From R60

Display and presentation

Architectural models, exhibition pieces, product mockups. Up to sixteen colours in a single print.

From R150 to design

Custom design

No file? Send a sketch, a photo of the broken part, or just describe it. We draw it, then print it.

How It Works

Three Steps

1

Send the file, or just describe it

Upload an STL, OBJ or STEP. Or send a sketch, a photo of the thing that broke, or a sentence about what you need. No model is a perfectly normal starting point.

2

We quote it within a day

Material, colour, size, quantity, priced by a person who has looked at it. Want a number this minute instead? 3D PrintZA quotes instantly.

3

We print it and get it to you

Printed here in Somerset West. Collect it, or we deliver anywhere in South Africa.

What It Gets Printed In

Five answers cover almost everything. If none of them sounds like your part, that is what the last line is for.

Most jobsPLAThe all-rounderCrisp detail, loads of colours, prints clean. Prototypes, display pieces and anything that lives indoors.
PETGTougher, and takes a soakingHandles moisture and handling. For parts that get used rather than looked at.
ABS / ASAHeat and weatherHeat-resistant and UV-stable, for parts that live outdoors or somewhere hot. Printed in our heated chamber so they do not warp.
TPUBends and bounces backFlexible. Phone cases, gaskets, grips, feet, anything that has to squash and recover.
Carbon-filledStiff, strong, lightEngineering-grade, for structural parts and jigs. Prints on our hardened nozzle as standard.

The Machine

Creality K2 Plus

A 350mm cubed build volume, a 60°C heated chamber and up to sixteen colours in a single print. Hardened nozzle, so engineering filaments print as standard. Layers from 0.05mm for fine detail to 0.3mm for fast drafts.

Before You Order

Good to Know

Better you read this now than find it out after paying for it.

It is not resin

FDM at a 0.4mm nozzle leaves layer lines. Miniatures, jewellery masters and crisp text under about 2mm want SLA, and we will say so rather than take the job. The network can do that.

350mm is the ceiling

Bigger than that gets sectioned and bonded, which is fine for a lot of things and wrong for others. We will tell you which.

Multi-colour costs filament

Every colour change purges the nozzle. A four-colour part can burn well over its own weight in plastic, and it runs a lot longer.

No multi-colour TPU

Flexible filament will not feed through the multi-material system. TPU prints beautifully here, in one colour.

The Network

Too Big, Too Many, Too Far?

We also built 3D PrintZA, South Africa’s 3D printing network. When a job is bigger than our machine, wants a process we do not run, or wants a studio nearer you, that is what it is for.

  • Instant online quotesIn rand, with VAT already in them. No waiting for a person.
  • Other processesResin for the fine detail FDM cannot reach, and large format past our 350mm.
  • Bulk and production runsVolume pricing built in, past the tens we print here.

Tell Us What It Is For

Attach a model, or describe the part and what it has to survive. No model is fine: we can draw it. A real person reads every one and comes back with a price and a lead time.
