About DezignZA
A design-led development studio in Somerset West, South Africa.
Our Story
It Started in Ireland, Not Somerset West.
The studio began in Ireland in 2005 as a design partnership. Over the twelve years that followed, the team built brands, designed interfaces and shipped work for enterprise clients across Europe, through every shift from print to pixel to product.
In 2017 the operation moved to Somerset West and DezignZA was formally established. The map changed; the work did not. Brand identities, interfaces, and more and more of the software sitting underneath them, delivered for South African businesses and international teams alike.
In 2024 we sharpened the focus to custom software for small and medium businesses. Design thinking has been the one constant. The tools and the platforms simply changed around it.
Today we build the software businesses run on, and we still start every project the way we started in 2005: understand the problem, design the solution, then build it.

The Team
Lean, Senior, and Covering Every Layer
Four disciplines, one studio, and no handoff between the people who design the thing and the people who build it.
Brand and Communications
Social media strategy, brand identity, content direction and the public-facing voice of every project. The layer that makes sure your product does not just work, it connects.
UX/UI Design
Certified UX professionals with a university-accredited diploma and the Google UX certificate. User research, information architecture, wireframes, prototyping and high-fidelity Figma mockups. Every interface tested with real users before it is built.
Engineering
Full-stack development on modern frameworks: Next.js, React, React Native, TypeScript, Supabase, Tauri and Rust. Web apps, mobile apps, desktop apps. Clean code, regular demos, proper documentation.
Extended Team
For specialised or large-scale builds we bring in senior developers from a network we have worked with for years. Same standards, same review process, fully integrated into our workflow.
We also run a fleet of AI-powered development tools, each trained on specific project contexts and skills. They do not replace the team, they multiply it. The same studio that ships enterprise-grade design now delivers production software at a pace that used to require a much larger headcount.

Google UX Design Certificate
Professional certificate, completed 2021. Hands-on training in user research, wireframing, prototyping and usability testing.
Professional Diploma in UX Design
University-accredited, completed 2022. Over 500 hours of specialist training in human-centred design methodology: research methods, usability testing, information architecture and design systems.
