About the project

Weatherly is a friendly iOS weather app for people who plan their lives around the forecast. We designed it around two personas: Michelle, a Cape Town wedding planner who checks the weather many times a day for her clients, and Siyabonga, a Stellenbosch student who plans outdoor weekends with friends. The goal was a clearer, more useful app than the one that ships on the phone.

We built personas, an empathy map and a user journey for a camping weekend, then audited four popular weather apps side by side. A published university survey on weather app use helped us decide which features mattered most. From there we drew a sitemap with widgets and quick actions, a moodboard, wireframes and a full set of high-fidelity screens, from location search to event tracking.
